Personal loans can be a godsend when you face a huge tax bill, an unexpected car repair bill, or another large expense. But you might be
wondering if a personal loan is even possible if you’ve had the misfortune of having bad credit.
First of all, it’s important to understand the nature of a personal loan. Unlike a
home loan or a car loan, a personal loan is unsecured, meaning that you are offering no collateral to
secure the loan. These are known as unsecured personal loans. That makes the loan inherently risky for a bank or other lending institution.
Getting a better Personal Loan Rate
Your credit score is the key to getting the best rate on a new personal loan, mortgage, or refinance. You can find
out your score for free by contacting each of the three national credit reporting companies directly.
Changing your life
Getting into debt can be a vicious cycle of booms and busts. A sudden influx of cash can appear to be
a long term solution but instead it becomes a quick fix and sadly in many cases, results in increased debt.
You can change your life for the better! However, you must change your spending habits and how you handle your money for long term financal peace. We recommend
starting a few baby steps to get your spending habits under control
- Life frugally. Stop spending on on unecessary daily items such as trips to the local coffee shop, eating lunch out with
co-workers, and dinners out at expensive eateries. These small expenses add up quickly.
Take you lunch to work, and eat more at home. Eating out typically costs much more than a meal at home.
- Get another job. This isn't the most fun thing to do but if you need extra income, this is one way to do it. This
isn't a long term solutino and must be balanced with you home, and families needs
- Sell stuff. You can get rid of a lot of unnecessary things in your home that you no longer need. If you cannot
sell items, donate them. Whatever money you recieve, make sure to apply it to your debt or establish an emergency fund.
- Pay off your smallest credit card debt free and then move on to the next debt. You'll get an immediate sense of
accomplishment and you'll be closer to finanical freedom.
- Find a friend. Its much easier to tackle these challenges if you have a friend who is struggling with the
same issues. Listen to each other and try to offer encouraging advice.
